Astronomy / Space / Satellite-tracking package ('E' 'M' 'H')
"Home Planet places the Earth in its place in the universe, allowing one to look up toward the stars or down upon the Earth from a variety of perspectives." This comprehensive astronomy / space / satellite-tracking package for Microsoft Windows (only), is now available for download. Instructions provided for installation. Review for the possibilities in your classroom. Big size!

Collision of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 with Jupiter ('M' 'H')
From Institute for Scientific Computation Texas A&M University. Includes FAQs for pre- and Post-Impact, and images. A good illustration of the application of physics to astonomy. Many other good sites linked here.

Comet Shoemaker-Levy Collision with Jupiter ('M' 'H')
A rich site that includes Background Info, Latest Conclusions of the Comet Collision, Images (1,100+ Images, 60+ Observatories), Animations, Comet Shoemaker-Levy Impact Times, Spacecraft Observations of the Impacts and Ground Based Observations.

Current Astronomical Sky - A Screen Saver for Windows ('M' 'H')
"The Sky Screen Saver shows the sky above any location on Earth, including stars (from the Yale Bright Star Catalogue of more than 9000 stars to the 7th magnitude), the Moon in its correct phase and position in the sky, and the position of the Sun and all the planets in the sky." You may customize the solar system if you wish! Replots every ten minutes. Public Domain software. Helpful to read the READ ME files at

Earth and Moon Viewer ('M' 'H')
An "interactive server which lets you view the Earth, as illuminated by the Sun at the time of your request, ... by latitude, longitude and altitude, or from a satellite in Earth orbit. Images can be generated based on a topographical map of the Earth, up-to-date weather satellite imagery, or a composite image of cloud cover superimposed on a map of the Earth."

Stars - An Introduction ('E' 'M' 'H')
NASA's Observatorium is full of a variety of interesting articles on astronomy and how it impacts culture and history. This particular site explores the physical properties of stars and discusses their importance to us.
