TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION - CAMS
Introduction
While CAMS are certainly not a usual topic (unless in technology
class), they are a wonderful innovation which allows a class to view
some subject almost anywhere in the world. We thought they deserved
special recognition at this point in internet history.
Live cams are subject to a number of factors (e.g., nocturnal
animals, viewing hours set by the facility, different time zones,
...) so it is best to check ahead or class time will be spent
hunting. Then again, be prepared that things can change at a
moment's notice. Connections are important, with faster being
better. Many CAMS have archived their past viewings, so check
for this in our description. Many times you will be more rewarded by
viewing a series of annotated archived cams than the current one.
The Nest Box Cam (see below) is a good example of this. Enjoy and
learn.
Bird Boxes - Cams ('E' 'M' 'H')
Catch this site live during nesting/fledging time. Otherwise, you
can view descriptive archives and see the progression all at once.

Nest Box Cam(era) ('E' 'M' 'H')
Look inside an actual nest box to watch nest building through
fledging. Watch real-time as well as daily annotated movie archives
of the same nest. As the site explains, "The Nest Box Cams use
real-time Internet technology to observe and interpret the nesting
behaviors of cavity-nesting birds and promote understanding of their
breeding biology." One of the best uses of web cameras that we have
seen. By the Birdhouse Network/Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

SalmonCAM ('E' 'M' 'H')
The OMSI SalmonCam is provided by the Oregon Museum of Science and
Industry in Portland, Oregon. Good quality viewing. Want to bring it
