LESSON PLANS / CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES
Be An Archaeologist ('M' 'H')
Try a small taste of what an archaeologist does when " your job is
to learn about humans who lived long ago by unearthing the objects
they once used. This pile of pot shards has just come in from the
field. Your assignment? Reassemble the pot to its former glory.

Collapse: Why Do Civilizations Fall? ('H')
This site explores the collapse of four ancient civilizations: The
Maya, The Anasazi, The Mesopotamian and the Mali empires. Visitors
can collect and analyze evidence, much like an archaeologist does,
for the causes of these civilizations' declines. "Garbage-ology" is
also featured (where one sees what trash reveals about a society).
Site makes connections between what finished off these civilizations
and the problems facing modern society; will history repeat itself?

Young Archaeologists' Club (United Kingdom) ('E' 'M' 'H')
Learn what 8-16 year old kids are doing in archaeology in the UK. Some of the projects these students are doing (e.g., reproducing a mosaic) would transfer well to any classroom.
