CEISMC Mentoring Program
Attendance & Absences Policy:

Attendance is an important component of your job. Your students, teachers, and school administrators are depending on you to be a reliable tutor! As such, we must adhere to a strict attendance and absentee policy. This includes both your tutoring sessions and required training sessions. 

Two or more unexcused absences may result in your termination
as a CEISMC tutor and mentor. 

Excessive chronic absences may also result in your termination
as a CEISMC tutor and mentor.  

An unexcused absence is defined as:

1. Any planned absence from a tutoring shift or training session without 24-hour prior notice.
2. Any emergency absence from a tutoring shift or training session without explanation within 24 hours of the shift. 


When you must be absent:

E-mail your program coordinator and state your name, school assignment, date of the absence, and reason for the absence:

  • AKC Tutors should e-mail                                           akc at ceismcmail.ceismc.gatech.edu

  • Pathways into STEM Mentors should e-mail             pathways at ceismcmail.ceismc.gatech.edu

All Kids Count tutors must also copy your school coordinator on the above e-mail.  (See the AKC contacts page for e-mail addresses.)

3. If you tutor during the week, either tell the teacher or school representative if you are planning to be absent OR if it is unexpected, call the school and leave a message for the teacher you work for. DO NOT call the Principal directly!
