CEISMC
Mentoring Program |
Rules
of Conduct
Violations of any of these rules
are grounds for immediate
dismissal.
General Guidelines for
Tutors:
|
1. |
Once you commit to your
weekly schedule for the
semester, you must
follow through. (See the
Attendance Policy
for more details). This
may be only a couple of
hours for you, but for
the school and students,
it is a big deal. |
|
2. |
Be consistent,
dependable, and
responsible. If you are
unable to make a
tutoring session, call
the school and/or
teacher prior to your
absence. |
|
3. |
Do not overestimate the
number of hours you can
commit, but make it a
priority. |
|
4. |
Be honest, patient,
flexible, and
respectful. Remember-
this is life for these
students and you are a
visitor to their world.
Treat them as you would
like to be treated. |
The following behaviors
will not be tolerated:
|
1. |
Any use of profanity or
degrading language. |
|
2. |
Use of sexual language
or conduct of any kind. |
|
3. |
Any verbal or physical
abuse towards a student. |
|
4. |
Use of tobacco products
or alcohol on the school
grounds or in front of
the students. |
|
5. |
Carrying a concealed
weapon or use of any
kind of weapon on school
grounds. |
|
6. |
Chronic absences or
unexcused absences. |
Things to be cautious
about:
|
1. |
Being alone with a
student. Always be where
someone else can see
you. |
|
2. |
Handing out contact
information. Phone
numbers are in general a
bad idea. |
|
3. |
Telling about your
personal life. |
Dress Code:
|
1. |
No hats or bandanas |
|
2. |
Dress should be modest |
|
3. |
No clothing or
accessories advocating
drugs, tobacco, or
alcohol. |
|
4. |
In general, use the
School Dress Code to
dictate your own. |
|
5. |
Be comfortable. |
Remember: You are
to be a role model and should
act accordingly. You are
representing CEISMC and Georgia
Tech and should act in a
professional, responsible manner
at all times. Teachers,
children, and administrators are
counting on your living up to
your commitment.
