Prospective Tutors
Thank you for
your interest in becoming a part of the CEISMC
Mentoring Program at Georgia Tech!
CEISMC,
the Center for Education Integrating Science,
Mathematics, and Computing, is a part of Georgia
Tech's College of Sciences and serves as its
primary K-12 outreach division. One of our
principal missions is to improve science and
mathematics education throughout the state of
Georgia. As part of this mission, the CEISMC
Mentoring Program (CMP) seeks to place college students in local
schools and classrooms to serve as
tutors and mentors.
There are
two programs within the CMP. They are All Kids
Count and Pathways into Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). These programs
work with schools in the Atlanta Public School
System.
In the
2008 - 2009 academic year, we had over 100
college students working with well over 600
elementary, middle, and high school students in
everything from basic arithmetic to Geometry and
Calculus. We are hoping to make the 2009 -
2010
year even more successful, and hence we are
looking for more outstanding students. If you
are looking for an experience that is more than
simply "a job" and truly desire to make a
difference in the life of a young person this is the
place for you!
