. The
Pathways into STEM Program has three objectives:
The
partnership is made possible by a generous grant from
The Arthur
M. Blank Family Foundation.
Mentors work one-on-one with 11th and 12th grade
students and assist them by developing their math
and science skills and providing exposure and
information about their postsecondary options.
They also work with students to build character and
life skills. Mentors meet with their
students once a week during the school day. Students
also participate in afterschool activities weekly to
attend classes and acquire skills that will
translate to success at the post-secondary level. Mentors
will also interact with students in recreational activities
outside of school and occasional activities at Georgia Tech.
Students also participate in Saturday and weekday activities
including National Engineering Week Celebrations,
Professional Workshops and Community Service
Projects. These sessions will focus on
increasing awareness about careers in the STEM
fields, preparing them for their postsecondary
choices and providing opportunities for service and
leadership.
