GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY HOSTS

2013 SIEMENS COMPETITION REGIONAL FINALS NOVEMBER 1 - 2

WHAT: A remarkable group of young STEM scholars have been rewarded with the opportunity to present their original research at Georgia Institute of Technology the third weekend in November.  They will compete for the highest science honor awarded to American high school students when the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology Regional Finals comes to Atlanta.  Up for grabs is a $3,000 prize for an individual, $6,000 for a team and the chance to advance to the National Finals in Washington, DC, where $500,000 in scholarships will be awarded, including two top prizes of $100,000.

WHO: America’s next generation of young innovators presents their awe-inspiring research projects to expert university judges.  Past Siemens Competition winners have contributed advances to drug therapies for cancer patients, used gaming technology for potential health applications, and solved previously unsolved mathematical problems.  Their presentations this weekend will determine who goes on to reach the pinnacle of scientific achievement at the high school level.
