CEISMC STEAM Workshops

If they answer yes to any of these questions or has a general interest in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design and Mathematics) fields, then STEAM Workshop is for you!

 

What are STEAM Workshops?

 

Georgia Tech's CEISMC STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Workshops are workshops for students in 6th through 12th grade. STEAM Workshops encourages students to study and pursue a career in the STEAM fields by exposing them to many different topics of science and engineering along with a technology. During each session, students participate in a variety of hands-on activities that promote creativity, problem solving, and teamwork in 6th through 12th grade students. 

STEAM Workshops will be held at the Georgia Tech Midtown campus, on select Saturdays from 12PM to 3PM. Please check out our available workshops below!

Session #5: Saturday JANUARY 25, 2019 12-3PM

 

Workshop 1: Intro to App/Game                       6th-12th Grade

Students in 6th grade and older are invited to register for Introduction to Mobile (iPhone & Android) App & Game Development. Students will have fun learning how to create the next "Candy Crush" or "Temple Run" sensation on the App Store. All Introduction to Mobile App & Game Development workshop dates will contain the same content, and each workshop must be paid for separately. 

Price: $65 per Saturday per participant

Workshop 2:    Fashion Circuits "Make it! Wear it!" (PART 1) : Mandatory 2 Part Session on February 15        6th-8th Grade

Have you ever wanted to create your very own light up accessories. Learning about circuit basics, students  will use needle, thread , coin batteries and LEDs to create their own unique light up accessory. The STEAM possibilities are limitless! You even get to take your design and supplies home with you! 

 Price: $65 for each part of the 2 Part session January & February per participant ($130 total)

 

Session #6: SATURDAY FEBRUARY 15, 2020 12-3PM

 

Workshop 1: Intro to App/Game                       6th-12th Grade

Workshop 3: Bio Mania:Mapping the Brain                       6th-12th Grade

Students learn about how the brain is the body’s most complex organ. Students will have fun mapping out the structure and function of the brain.

Price: $65 per Saturday per participant.

 

Session #7: SATURDAY MARCH 7, 2020 12-3PM

 

Workshop 1: Intro to App/Game                       6th-12th Grade

Workshop 2:    LEGO Mindstorm       6th-8th Grade

Ever wanted to create your own robot? Explore the world of robotics by designing and building a robot that solves real-life challenges. Teams of students will explore and apply physical science and mathematics concepts to program LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots.

Workshop 3: Micro-bits                       9th-12th Grade

Students learn to use micro:bits which is a pocket sized computer that lets studnets get creative with digital technology. Studnets will code, customize and control thier micro:bits.

Session #8: SATURDAY APRIL 18, 2020 12-3PM

 

Workshop 1: Ear Sketch                          6th-12th Grade

Students will learn how to code using the popular EarSketch program. EarSketch helps you learn coding through music. Using sounds along with Phyton and Javascript codes, students will produce studio souding music. 

 

Workshop 2: Angry Bird Challenge                   9th-12th Grade

Students will build devices similar to the angry birds game that they will use to knock an eraser “pig” off a pyramid. Price: $65 per Saturday per participant.

Workshop 3: Aquamarine Biology                  6th-8th Grade

Students, do you love thinking about the ocean? Are you interested in the marine life that lives there? Join us for a day of Marine Biology, the scientific study of Marine life and organisms in the ocean.  

This session involves Squid Dissection and will require additional parental waivers.
