Sirocus Barnes joined Georgia Tech’s Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC) in March 2012 as the Outreach Coordinator for the AmeriCorps Academic Mentoring Program. Sirocus attended Valdosta State University (VSU) where he earned a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology & Counseling and a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management.
Currently, Sirocus is the Program Director for Student Prorgrams which includes Horizons Atlanta at Georgia Tech, Summer PEAKS, STEAM Workshops, and K.I.D.S. Club.
Prior to joining CEISMC, Sirocus worked for 10 years for the City of Valdosta and the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority. From 2006 to 2012, Sirocus served as the Programs and Events Coordinator. In this role, Sirocus managed all aspects of four divisions: After-school Programming, Summer Day Camps, Instructional Programming, and Community Special Events. Currently, Sirocus is able to combine his personal and professional interests at CEISMC.
Active in the local community, Sirocus serves as the Immediate Past President of the VSU Alumni Chapter of Atlanta, while also serving on the VSU Alumni Association Executive Board as the First Vice President.
