About

Jean Anderson is a former elementary and middle school mathematics teacher. She also served as a Middle School Mathematics Coordinator for the DeKalb County School System with over 30 years in education before coming to work at CEISMC. She has been at CEISMC for 9 years working with elementary and middle school teachers as the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) and the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) were rolled out across the state. Jean has worked in many districts throughout the state with math coaches, administrators, regular and special education teachers, and Regional Education Service Agency’s (RESA) to help advance mathematics content and pedagogical knowledge. She collaborated with Marsha Shrago and math teachers to develop and edit the content parent support letters posted on CEISMC’s Website at CSI – Mathematics (Curriculum Support Information in Mathematics) for grades K -8.

Currently, Jean is working with school districts in support of their Mathematics Science Partnerships (MSP). Districts vary in the direction that their MSP goals and objectives were written and developed. Depending on the districts’ needs, Jean manages and supports graduate students who co-teach with teachers in the districts, provides math and science content integration, presents problem based and inquiry learning strategies, promotes technology integration, and facilitates lesson study with teachers.
Jean served as co-PI on an Improving Teacher Quality Grant  (ITQ) and has submitted several other state and national grant proposals. She presented at Georgia Tech's STEM Expo, NSTA Conferences, GCTM Conferences, and MSP Regional Conferences.  Additionally, she helped develop on-line mathematics courses for teachers under the auspices of the Race to the Top (RT3) initiative.
